Where To Spend And Save

To get long term enjoyment from your bathroom invest in classic pieces that will stand the test of time rather than the latest fad which might wow now but look dated in a couple of years’ time. White sanitaryware will never date unlike colours and fittings such as a console basin or cast iron bath are timeless and add value to your property.
However it is important to shop carefully. Some bathroom fittings look like fantastic bargains but in reality you do get what you pay for and cheap imports can be of poor quality that will not give long service so that the initial saving is soon wasted. Cheap ceramic sanitaryware can have bubbles and faults in the glaze that results in staining and cracking, similarly bargain cast iron baths often have thin enamel finish which will stain and chip.
The last place to economise in the bathroom is on taps and shower controls. These are the engineered element within the room and you really do get what you pay for. Better quality materials and sophisticated internal workings may cost a bit more but they will last longer, look better and be a pleasure to use. However savings can be made. Consider a basin such as our Soho 2, as an alternative to separate twin basins. It will cost less and take up less space. Also back to wall sanitaryware is often cheaper than the wall hung equivalent.
